In The Dark
Synopsis:
When a blind photographer shoots the body of a Petty Officer on film, the NCIS team uses his insight to investigate the crime. Meanwhile, both Gibbs and Tony are having commitment issues in their relationships.

Episode Recap:
A blind photographer captures image of dead body in his photo. His assistant sees that the corpse is wearing a marine uniform and calls NCIS. The blind photographer is questioned and describes the smell he trailed that night, including that the man he followed smelled of fruit.

Palmer and Agent Lee have been naughty in the autopsy room.This time Agent Lee's bra has turned up in an unexpected place and is found by Ducky. Palmer reports to Lee that he found the missing underwear. He learns that her knickers are also missing. Palmer begins a hunt in all the most unlikely places in NCIS HQ.

Palmer's hunt eventually leads him to bump into the blind photographer, who notices the smell on Palmer. Palmer admits to being diabetic, which causes the smell when he forgets his insulin. Diabetes turns out to be the key to the whole case.

Meantime, three women confront their unrequited love for their man. Jeanne confronts Tony with his reluctance to act on his promise to move in with her. Mann has confronted Gibbs with an ultimatum: commit to a relationship, or stop seeing each other. And the blind photographer finds out that his assistant has gone to great lengths to follow him and watch him work, because, as Ziva guesses during interrogation, she is in love with him. The blind photographer, famed for his insight that lets him see more than most sighted people, is abashed to realise that he didn't see the most important thing in life when it was standing right in front of him. His comment seems to encourage Tony and Gibbs to admit to themselves that love matters.

Funny Moments:
  • Mann, who has had a small leak in her bathroom, comes home from a short trip to discover Gibbs seemingly accelerating the work to be finished and, she assumes, leave her. Mann launches into a diatribe about how Gibbs should want her and how stupid he is for not wanting her. She doesn't let him speak. When he stays silent, she demands he speak. He starts talking about the plumbing and how it turned out to be a bigger job than he thought. He opens the door to her bathroom to reveal utter chaos. He was trying to finish the plastering on the small leak so that he could tackle the really big leak. When she asks how long the work could take, he says "a while". This implies that Gibbs will try to continue his relationship with Mann.
  • Palmer desperately searching for Lee's lost underwear.
  • Abby sniffing Caf-Pow
  • When Ducky takes Lee´s bra up, and Jimmy looks really odd.
  • Tony is messing around with the camera near the start of the episode, and takes a few photos of Palmer as he says, "What if I was blind...?" As Ducky responds, in the background Tony tries to take a picture of himself. The flash goes off and Tony squawks...so Dinozzo.
Trivia:
  • In the scene where Ducky and Jimmy are performing the autopsy on the deceased PO Lynn, we see Ducky squeezing urine out of a syringe into a specimen jar. We hear "tap tap tap" corresponding with Ducky shaking the last drops off the syringe, but the syringe does not actually tap the jar to make such a sound.
