I think Abby also mentioned that she had a niece in early sixth season....I think she was talking about how she couldn't believe how her sweet little niece was related to her snotty little brother....I could be worng and I misheard because I got uber excited about my fanfic that has a plot of Abby's niece....someone clarify? Lol

Abby is way off the top of the scale for me all the time. But I liked best of all when she skated around her lab on roller-blades. Do it again, Abby, Pauley!

A conversation with Pauley Perrette of 'NCIS'

The TV landscape is littered with forensics specialists, but no character sifts through the evidence with as much offbeat, oddball flair as Abby Sciuto of the hit military crime drama NCIS. It’s what makes actress Pauley Perrette such a viewer favorite. Abby, with her caffeine-fueled high energy and her kooky Goth/cheerleader wardrobe, is unforgettably one of a kind. Abby is whip smart, outspoken, funny, cute and just a little bit crazy, kind of like the woman who plays her. It’s a role, Perrette says, that actresses dream of getting. “I say my Grateful Prayers every morning,” she says. “As soon as I wake up, I’m like, ‘Thank you, God, for this job.’” But the truth is that NCIS, now in its sixth season on CBS and enjoying better ratings than ever, is just as lucky to have Perrette. Check out the new Christmas-themed episode at 7 p.m. CT Tuesday, Dec. 16, and you’ll see a performer and a character that are perfectly matched.

How much of the character was on the page before you started playing her? For example, did she have funky clothes, tattoos and ponytails in the script? And was she guzzling Big Gulp soft drinks?

“I remember that the very first paragraph of character description said she was wearing a Stiff Records shirt. That’s an old punk rock record label and I was like, ‘Right on with the reference!’ So that was there. The being overly caffeinated was always a part of it too. But there were other things that just evolved. The Abby-in-ponytails thing happened the first day I walked on set to play this character. Me, Paulie, I had gotten out of the shower and put my hair in ponytails and when I got out of my car at work, one of the producers said, ‘That’s Abby’s hair!’ So now I can’t really wear ponytails on my own time!”
