Friendship Time Line

Season 1

High Seas: Tony was really jealous of Stan Burley because he and Gibbs seemed to get along so well and Gibbs gave Stan a hug when he first saw him.Tony spent a great deal of time competing against Stan to get Gibbs attention and approval.Finally as they're leaving to go back to NCIS Gibbs shakes Stan's hand and Tony comments that after all the time he and Gibbs worked together he never once shook his hand, to which Stan replied: "I was with the agency two years before he looked me in the eyes, three for him to call me by name, four till he got it right.By then I had kinda gotten used to Steve.He must really like you."

Left for Dead: When the boiler in Tony's apartment blew and he needed a place to stay, no one would let him stay with them including Gibbs who tells Tony, "You remember what happened last time." But at the end of the episode, Gibbs tells Tony his door is unlocked, letting Tony know he has a place to stay.

Missing: After Tony is rescued he continues to badger Gibbs to admit that he was worried about him, when Gibbs doesn't respond Tony asks if he doesn't care.Gibbs turns to face him, pats him on the cheek, and tells him he is irreplaceable.

Season 2

Chained: Gibbs doesn't show his worry or concern for Tony, but Kate is able to see through it and points out that Gibbs is really worried about him.

SWAK: When Tony had the plague, Gibbs gave Tony an order not to die, therefore giving him something to live and fight for.Then placed Tony's cell phone in his hand and when he's leaving you can see Tony clinging tightly to the phone.

Season 3

Frame Up: Gibbs seems concerned about Tony's position and trys to help him at all costs.Also, while Tony was in the holding cell, Gibbs came to visit him bringing him his favorite pizza and just stood and listened while Tony vented his worries, letting him get it all out in the open.When Tony asks "I'm not getting out of this one am I?" Gibbs motions him forward and gives him a headslap to which Tony replies "Thank you, boss." Then Gibbs tips his finger under Tony's chin, in his own silent way telling him to keep his chin up, he would be okay.

Boxed in: Gibbs is obviously worried when they lose contact with Tony and Ziva, when McGee is worried they might have been killed and asks if they should put divers in the water, Gibbs replies: "They're not in the water. McGee, if they were in the water, they would be dead. If they we're dead, I'd know about it."

Season 4

Blowback: Gibbs finds out Tony's has been on an undercover op. for the director; Tony apologizes to Gibbs for not telling him.

Season 5

Bury Your Dead: After Jenny tells them Tony has been working undercover and he may have been compromised, Gibbs becomes worried about him, and the look of shock is very clear when they see his car explode. His anguish and torment is also very clear when they go to Tony's crime scene, it's very rare that Gibbs shows this much raw emotion. When Tony returns and he and Gibbs are speaking with the director, Gibbs looks very proud when Tony stands up to her.

Season 6

Agent Afloat: When on video conference with Gibbs and McGee, Tony pretends to be talking to family members, but sounds quite sincere when he says he loves and misses them, and also when he calls Gibbs 'Dad' at the end of the conversation.

Last Man Standing: Despite Vance's persistence in replacing Tony with a new agent, Gibbs continues to refuse, only accepting Tony to take back his place as senior field agent. Gibbs, of course, gets his way in the end and manages to get Tony back on the team. Also, Gibbs seemed happy to see Tony and vice versa when they met up during the case before Tony was able to return home. At the end of the episode Gibbs welcomes Tony home with a handshake.

Collateral Damage: When Vance says he wants less agents like Tony, Gibbs points out he means he wants less agents like Gibbs, confirming the similarities between the two.

Bounce: Gibbs hands over the case to Tony, gives him his phone for the case, and even follows Tony's orders. And when Tony seems to doubt himself and beat himself up for the screw up, Gibbs seems concerned and pulls him aside and admits that he's proud of Tony and he just needs to get his head on straight.

"Thank you Boss" after being head slapped.

Tony: I screwed up.
Gibbs:Yeah, ya' did.Three years ago.And now you're making it right......and me proud.You're doing....a hell of a job, Anthony.

Gibbs: Tony, listen to me........Are you listening?

Tony: I'm listening, boss.

Gibbs: You will not die.You got that?

(Tony doesn't respond so Gibbs headslaps him)

Gibbs: I said: You.Will.Not.Die.

Tony: Gotcha, boss.

Vance: Your choice?
Gibbs: DiNozzo.

Tony:Gibbs is being nice.
Abby: Gibbs is always nice.
Tony: To you and Ducky. Me, he growls at and slaps me on the back of the head.
Abby: Which makes you feel wanted.
Tony:Yeah.

Gibbs: Tony.....you're soaking wet.Go put some dry clothes on.

Tony: Admit it, you were worried about me, right? You don't have to say anything, I know. Okay, I want you to say it; you care, right?
(Gibbs starts walking away)
Tony: So are you saying you don't care?
Gibbs: Tony, as far I'm concerned, you're irreplaceable.

Gibbs: DiNozzo.
Tony: Pa?
Gibbs: Take care of yourself.
Tony: Miss you too, dad.

(After learning about Tony's undercover op.)
Gibbs: How deep is this cover?
Jenny: Deep enough to withstand the sort of scrutiny that La Grenoullie can bring to bear.
Gibbs: You better hope so.

Gibbs: ( holding a gun on Pandy) You didn't create this beast?
Pandy: Yes. But only to develop a defense against it. Antibiotic-resistant diseases are potential terrorist weapons.
Gibbs: A terrorist isn't killing my agent. You are!
Pandy: I understand your anger.
Gibbs: No, you don't. But if you don't save him, you will.

Gibbs: Are you looking for an 'atta boy'?
Tony: I thought it would be nice.....
Gibbs: (strokes the back of his head) Atta boy.....

Gibbs: I want someone I know there.
Tony: That's the same as saying someone you trust.
(Gibbs just smiles)
Tony: Someone you depend on.......your best man?
(Gibbs continues to smile)

Tony: You remember when I stayed with you that time, when it didn't really go so well?
Gibbs: Yeah. I remember, DiNozzo.
Tony: Well, listen. I was younger then.Immature, a little unfocused....
Gibbs: It was six months ago, Tony.
(Later)
Gibbs: My door's unlocked.
Tony: I know.

Kate: I hate to say it, but that was actually smart, Tony.
Gibbs: What was, Kate?
Kate: Tony might have figured out how to find our hacker.
Gibbs: It's his job. (smiles proudly) You think I keep him around for his personality?

McGee: What kind of interrogation technique is that?
Gibbs: The DiNozzo method. Not pretty, but effective.

Gibbs: (about Tony) You may not admire his methods, but you gotta love the results.

Gibbs: Go to Bethesda. Keep me updated on Tony's condition.

Gibbs: Are you thinking what I think you're thinking?
Tony:I don't know, boss. Are you thinking what I think you're thinking?
(Gibbs laughs)

Gibbs: (talking to a suspect while undercover) My son, Tony, plays that same game.

McGee: So we have to choose between Abby and Ducky?
Ziva: I'd rather be Mcgee's cat.
Jenny: (to Gibbs) So which one are you leaning toward?
Gibbs: Neither.My money's on DiNozzo.

Tony: The difference between ten years ago and today, Ducky? We have Gibbs' back.
Ducky: There's another difference, Tony.Ten years ago, Gibbs was a very different man.
Tony: You mean he was actually meaner?
Ducky: No quite the opposite.He was......he was allot like you.

That last quote there of Tony and Gibbs. The "you're thinking" thing...what episode was that one in? Can't for the life of me remember....

I thiink we need to add a picture of the scene in bounce when Gibbs gives Tony his "I'm proud of you speech"
