Friendship Time Line
Season 1

Season 2 McGee joins NCIS, Tony gives him the special nickname "Probie". Both Tony and Kate tease McGee a lot! McGee is slightly afraid of Tony and calls him "Sir".

Season 3

Kill Ari: When McGee worked up the courage to visit Kate's body in the mourge, Tony followed him down, giving him support.Telling Kate that 'it took guts to come down by himself', in his own way saying McGee was brave.

Frame Up: McGee shows his support and care by visiting him and keeping him updated on the case.He's also present when Tony is released from his holding cell.

Probie: When McGee was in his apartment, Tony visited, first intending to get him out and go clubing to raise his spirits.When that didn't work, he sat down with Tim and talked to him.
Haitus: When McGee was having dificulty going into the room in which Gibbs was bombed, Tony gave him an order to do something else so he wouldn't have to go in.When Ziva pointed out that he was being nice to McGee he at first denied it.But then gave in and admited that he was 'giving the Probie some slack'.
Season 4

Shalom: It's shown that Tony made McGee his seniro field agent.Showing he obviously trusts McGee and his ability to handle the job.

Witch Hunt: On the way to a crime scene, Tony shares a story about a halloween he spent as a child with McGee.Usually Tony won't share a lot of information of his childhood with his friends and team mates.

Cover Story: Tony is supportive of McGee, even if the support is a little unorthadox, it's still obvious he stands behind McGee.
Season 5

Bury Your Dead: When Tony's car is bombed, McGee simply refuses to believe it was Tony in the car, despite all the eividence pointing to the fact, he refused to believe that Tony had died.When Ducky infroms them that it's not Tony's body in autopsy, McGee is both relieved and happy
Season 6 McGee is no longer afraid of Tony and is more confident now.

Agent Afloat: McGee admits he misses Tony and it's good to see him again when on video conference.

Last Man Standing: When Tony is telling Ziva and McGee storied of his time as Agent Afloat, McGee just listens to Tony, grinning, happy to have him back.
Season 7

Tony and McGee seem allot closer this season and hold more respect for each other, but the familiar teasing and pranks are still there.

Truth or Consequences: McGee and Tony went on the mission together, which helped to strenthen their friendship.

  • Tony: You say that like it's a bad thing.
  • McGee: I was trying to figure out the wipers.Took my eyes off the road for a second, looked up.There is was.Right in front of me.
  • Tony: Car?
  • McGee: Bus.
  • McGee: I got a student pass the day I got out of traction.
  • Tony: (hugs McGee) I didn't know.
  • McGee: Thank you, Tony.Look after yourself, okay? Don't fall overboard.
  • (McGee's in autopsy seeing Kate when Tony comes in behind him)
  • Tony: Told you she looked good. (to Kate) Probie wouldn't believe me, Kate.Thought you would look like the Return of the Living Dead.
  • McGee: Did not.
  • Tony: Don't lie to the dead McGee......It's not nice.
  • McGee: I was a little afraid.
  • Tony: He was terrified.....but it took a lot of guts to come down here alone......showed how much he cared for you.
  • (Tony is talking about looking to Ziva's 'disappreence')
  • McGee: You can't do it alone.
  • Tony: Are you gonna stop me?
  • McGee: I didn't say that.




Greatest Moments Worst Moments

When Tony went to visit McGee's apartment and gave him a pep talk, even admitting something embarrassing that happened to him in a similar situation, after McGee shot a cop in the episode Probie.
McGee bringing up that he learned not to fall in love when on an undercover mission in front of Tony.
McGee taunting Tony when Gibbs returned from Mexico, saying that Tony wasn't competent enough to have his own team. McGee says that Tony wouldn't have stayed if he was good enough to have his own team. It happened when Tony started calling Tim ''Probie'' all over again after being his Senior field agent before Gibbs' return.
