I really think that without the proper (or at the very least long term) parental love and supervision Tony was never taught what boundaries were. That's why he's always nosing in on everybody's business. And with the neglect that I assume he received (at least from his father) he's constantly craving attention and insecure about his place with friends and co-workers. I also think he feels that it's better to push people away with his obnoxious personality than to let them in because what if they reject him? And lastly, I think that Tony's having some sort of mid-life crisis. He's middle-aged and he's starting to feel it. That's got to be scaring an overgrown child like him. He won't be able to pretend he's still a kid for much longer. Those are just my thoughts on what's been going on with him. Because Tony has seemed a little "off" for me this season. And I'm liking it but I'm ready for the show to tell us why. I hope we get some answers in the episode with his dad.

I agree in that suituation will be difficult to show respect -and we see that when they were alone - but Gibbs didn't show respect, when they were with the others too-and that was all Jen's fault. She allowed him to be in the charge of the situations-she leaned too much on him. If Jen knew it will be difficult for him to take orders,she shouldn't have bring up the past so many times and after that to expect Gibbs to see her as a Director only. Gibbs and Vance didn't have a good start of their Director-employee relationship too , but they manage to get over it an to work well together- but that was because Vance succeed in making Gibbs understand who is the Boss-it could've work with Jen too, but she didn't show the same strength and didn't have the guts to do it-we saw her to say " I'm your Boss " in Season ...4,I think, an all YEAR after she became a Director- too late from my POV . THAT's why I respect Vance -and Morrow- a lot more-it doesn't matter how Gibbs feels about them (there were moments,when Gibbs didn't agree with both Morrow and Vance about how they handle the situations ) ,but he accept them as his Bosses -the past,the lack of trust (Vance) ,the disagreement (Morrow) doesn't matter- he takes orders from them-we never saw that,when Jen was a Director.
