Relationship Time Line
Season 3
  • Ziva killed her own half-brother, Ari, to save Gibbs' life and Gibbs took all of the responsibility for that killing.
  • During the 3rd season finale, second part, Ziva helped Jethro remember the past years. Their bond had to have been strong that she could help him while Jenny could not. And at the end of the episode she called him Jethro, suggesting a leap in their relationship.
Season 4
  • When Ziva was accused of being a double-agent (Shalom) she went to Gibbs for help showing she trusts him.
Season 5
  • In the episode "Stakeout", Gibbs is obviously checking out Ziva's butt as she crawls around on the floor looking for boobytraps.
  • Throughout the episode "Recoil" Gibbs' fatherly affection and concern is very obvious. After her struggle with the murder he runs to her and cradles her face and asks her if she is okay. He spends most of the episode encouraging her to take time off and ultimately tells her what she needs to hear to make "peace" with all that had happened.
Season 6
  • At the end of the episode "Last Man Standing" when Ziva returns from Isreal, Gibbs pulls her into a hig and rocks her back and forth much like a parent would a child.
Season 7
Reunion: Gibbs doesn't seem to trust Ziva yet, especially about what previously happened with Ari.But Ziva explains that she had been ordered to kill Ari, but when she pulled the trigger she wasn't following orders.Then proceeds to tell Gibbs he is the closest thing she has to a father.

Good Cop, Bad Cop: Gibbs, at first, seems to still be angry with Ziva.But in the end he becomes very protective of her telling Bin Gidon (a mossad agent) to infrom Eli that Ziva "Is off limits".After Bid Gidon leaves, Gibbs gets Ziva to finish telling her story of what happened, off record.And then he whispers something in her ear (no one's sure what yet) and kisses the side of her head.Whatever he told her made he cry, yet she was smiling.

    Ziva: Honestly, I don't know. I was..ah.. hoping... maybe... save me? (rubs finger across her nose, sniffs, tears trickling down face)

  • Ziva: (to Gibbs) He was brother. And now he is gone. Eli is all but dead to me. And now the closest thing I have....to a father....is accusing me.

when i uesd 2 c zibbs vidz on utube i thought yea right tiva 4 eva but if there wasnt the age diference i dont think id be a tiva fan i rekon id be a zibbs fan its weird how wrong u can be about 2 ppl they r reli good 2gether (but coz of the age difference im still tiva 4 life tho) it'll neva work but i think zibbs wood be cute (even tho shes like a daughter 2 him ) (BUT THERE NOT)

While both trust each other and care about each other, the attraction is very minimal. Ziva's own father isn't someone she trusts, whether she realizes it or not, Gibbs is that paternal figure that she needs to be able to trust.

The knowledge that she killed her own brother to save Gibbs' life could change things between her and Tony in a hurry. That was powerful, really huge.

I really have to agree with Sorgina on this one :) Nice call :)

Perhaps if there weren't too much of an age difference it might work, but I rather get the feeling that Ziva's more like a daughter in the same way as Abbs, i.e. one's strong and resolute - Ziva, and the intelligent one - Abbs. Abbs is the naïve/feminine and Ziva the streetwise/tomboy. Both worthy of Gibbs father figure attitude with them
