NCIS: Reunion Episode Recap

A woman shows up at a cracked hotel room door and looks in. She sees a portable DVD player playing a video and music. She aims a gun into the room, walks in and says “Your under arrest you bad bad boys.” She’s a stripper posing as a cop. She sees one man lying dead on the floor in vomit, another on the bed with a backpack over his head and a third with his head in the toilet. She screams.

In the squadroom, DiNozzo walks in and says good morning to Fillmore, Ziva’s replacement. He teases her about her Army Greens but tells her they investigate crimes in the Navy. “Good thing I have a strong ego or I’d think you didn’t like me,” DiNozzo says. Fillmore ignores him. DiNozzo walks over to McGee and asks if he’s heard from Ziva, McGee says he hasn’t. DiNozzo says he tried to talk to her on the plane but, then hears Fillmore stop typing. He turns around and says, “These details are classified. Thank you.” McGee says they really aren’t and DiNozzo says they should be. DiNozzo wants to know what’s going on as someone asked him for his autograph. McGee says Janice in psych services asked him out for drinks. DiNozzo describes Janice as “man hands and pretty eyes.“ McGee tells him Ziva will call when she’s ready. Tony replies, “Last time you said that I ended up tied to a chair in North Africa.” They wonder how long it will be before Ziva’s desk will be empty with McGee giving it a month. Fillmore comes over and tells them she hates to disappoint them, hands McGee a rather lengthy document and tells them it’s her letter of resignation. When McGee comments on how long it is she says “I had a hard time choosing the right adjectives. I couldn’t decide between childish, juvenile and just plain old annoying. “ She looks at McGee and says, “And you. You know better. Your just so busy playing the faithful sidekick, you go along for the ride.” She tells them to make sure Gibbs gets her resignation and leaves.

Ziva walks down into Gibbs basement (no boat) and apologizes for being late. She thanks him for his help and hands him a gift. Gibbs opens it to find a chisel. Ziva tells Gibbs he’s probably thinking she rigged it to explode but Gibbs replies, “No, I’m thinking this is a really nice chisel.” Ziva tells him she felt betrayed when he left her in Israel but she has had time to think. She forgot who she could trust, they were a team once and she’d like that again. She came to his house for Gibbs blessing. Gibbs tells her she has to talk to the Director. His phone rings and DiNozzo calls to tell him of a triple homicide. Ziva tries to talk to Gibbs but he tells her she has to talk to Vance. As he heads up the basement stairs, he tells her Vance isn’t the only one she has to talk to.

While the team is processing the crime scene, Gibbs arrives. They tell Gibbs that Jeff Ross booked the room for a bachelor party. The stripper found him and she’s in the bedroom with her manager, Hector Stuckey. Gibbs and McGee go into the bedroom and Stuckey introduces himself. He hands them his business card, which McGee takes with a pair of tweezers. Stuckey tells them he’s a business man and the stripper, Scorpio Sinn, works for him as an entertainer. He pulls out some cologne and sprays McGee with it. Gibbs asks the stripper her story. She tells him she was hired to come in and surprise the men for a bachelor party. She says she showed up as a surprise and when she walked into the room, she found the men dead. Scorpio tells Gibbs the man on the floor (Ross) is the one she met with except he had hair when they met. The team looks at Ross, then DiNozzo pulls the backpack off the man’s head to reveal he is bald as well. Ducky pulls the third victims head out of the toilet and they discover he is also bald. After looking at the man’s head, Ducky informs Gibbs they were shaved after they were murdered.

Back in the squadroom, they ID the three men: Alan Sandrich (the groom), Naval Petty Officer, Jeff Ross and business man, Eric Jurell. Gibbs sends McGee and DiNozzo out to Jurell’s business to ask questions.

McGee grabs his coat and tells Tony to come on. Tony tells him to not let the sidekick stuff go to his head. He jokes with McGee about how the sidekick is always shorter but McGee stands toe to toe with him and points out they are the same height. The elevator bells rings and Ziva steps out, telling them she finds McGee to be the more handsome. Tony asks why she is there and Vance steps forward and tells Ziva she’s right on time.

In Vance’s office, Ziva and Vance talk. Vance asks her what her father thinks of her wanting to return to NCIS. Vance asks Ziva how her father feels and she asks what her father’s feelings have to do with it. When Vance reminds her she wasn’t an NCIS Agent but a Mossad Officer, she tells him she hasn’t spoken to her father in months. Vance tells her she is damaged and he has concerns. He tells her she has to pass a psych eval and battery and then they’ll talk. As she goes to walk out, Vance tells her he’s not making any promises.

McGee and DiNozzo go to Jurrell Auctioneers, where there’s a very boring lecture being given by Jay Danorth. Danorth tells them he’s not surprised that Eric Jurrell is dead, everyone wanted him dead. Tony asks him, “Did you wake up this morning wanting to be the prime suspect in a murder investigation?” Danorth tells them to talk to Elaina. She finishes a phone call but is crying. When DiNozzo asks her if she was involved with Jurrell, she says no but there were sparks. She felt people misunderstood Jurrell but that deep down he was a good man. Elaina tells them she did overhear a phone conversation and Jurrell said he felt someone was following him.

In autopsy, Palmer says he’s never been to a bachelor party before. Ducky is about to start on one of his stories when Gibbs walks in. Ross was killed by drinking too much; Sandrich was suffocated by putting the backpack over his head and Jurrell was drowned in the toilet. Ducky finds a discrepancy in an accident report filed for Ross. The report said he was injured in a hydraulic accident but Ducky finds a gunshot wound on his arm.

In the squadroom, Tim is faux swiping the TV screen (reminiscent of his NCIS: Los Angeles trip). Gibbs walks up behind him and wants an update. Then DiNozzo walks in and tells them he met Sandrich’s fiancée and she’s engaged again. He makes a crack about fast engagements and Gibbs asks him how long he’s going to use that line to which DiNozzo replies, “Last time Boss.“ McGee makes a comment about how Sandrich wasn’t dead 24 hours yet and the fiancée was already engaged. Tony tells them the bachelor party was fake, the real one had taken place 5 months prior. He pops in the bachelor party tape that had taken place 5 months prior. After the fiancée saw it, she broke off the engagement. Gibbs tells DiNozzo to turn off the tape. They want to know what the 2nd bachelor party was covering up for.

DiNozzo and McGee are trying to figure out how they can find out who was tailing Jurrell. Ziva walks up behind them and tells them to track Jurrell’s cell phone GPS and they can use the GPS of a repeat cell phone that followed him to find out who the tracker was. Ziva and Tony just stare at each other but say nothing. McGee realizes this and excuses himself saying he’s going to get a nutter butter. Tony asks Ziva if she’s taking the tour. Ziva says she is on her way for her first psych eval. Tony says he always loved them and Ziva replies, “It’s because you always get to talk about yourself all the time.” Tony’s phone rings and he hands it to Ziva. Abby demands that Ziva get down to her lab immediately. Tony tells Ziva to be careful she doesn’t get her own 21 gun salute. Ziva tells him she’ll see him later and he’s says he’ll be there.

Ziva walks int o Abby’s lab, where as always, there is loud music blaring. Abby sees Ziva and gives her an evil look. Abby yells, “What the hell is wrong with you. How could you have doubted Tony?” Abby reads Ziva the riot act about how Ziva wasn’t thinking, telling Gibbs she couldn’t trust Tony. She babbles about Michael’s murder and tells Ziva that after everything Tony did for her, he even risked his life to save her. Abby ends by saying “Tony 1, Ziva zilch!” Abby walks up to Ziva and hugs her. She picks up a remote and we hear a pop and a sign comes down from the ceiling along with confetti. The sign reads “Welcome Home Ziva.”

Gibbs heads up to MTAC and talks with Marine Colonel Dick Jestern. Gibbs asks him how Ross got injured as Jestern filed the report. Jestern says that Ross was injured in a hydraulic accident but when Gibbs tells him what Ducky found, Jestern fesses up. He admits he falsified the report because Ross has gone on 2 days leave. When he returned, he had a gunshot to the arm. Ross claims he was with a woman and was shot by the husband. Jestern gave him a verbal reprimand and filed the report. He will complete a corrected report and send it to Gibbs.

Vance walks into MTAC and tells Gibbs that Ziva passed her first psych eval. Vance gives Gibbs the reinstatement paperwork to sign. Gibbs asks what Eli David thinks. Vance says he has things to work out. Vance senses Gibbs hesitation and reminds Gibbs he is the one who said he wanted Ziva back and asks if that is how Gibbs still feels. Gibbs says, “We need Ziva.”

Gibbs walks into the squadroom and asks Tony to look into where Ross went on his leave. Tony finds out that Ross went to an airstrip and they believe there was a package on the plane that is the key to the murders. McGee finds an unregistered cell phone number showed up several times, tailing Jurrell. They aren’t able to find out who the owner is but McGee tells them he can locate him. The team ends up at a house - Tony takes the front door and Gibbs and McGee go around back. Tony enters and finds a copy there, gun drawn. He claims they got a call about a shot fired and there were two suspects. Gibbs and McGee come in, quick introductions are made. Shelley is excited to learn Tony has his back. Each man takes a room to check out. The door to the room Shelley enters closes and glass hit’s the floor. The team enters the room and hears a car start up and take off, no Shelley. Gibbs picks up the framed photo that had fallen on the floor and they realize it was Shelley’s house, Shelly was the man tailing Jurrell. As they poke around Shelley’s house, they find what they believe to be an apology/suicide note on Shelley’s computer. DiNozzo finds a photo of the 3 deceased men at an airport under Shelley’s bed. Gibbs says Shelley wasn’t tailing them but targeting them. DiNozzo follows up with the Baltimore PD to get information on Shelley.

McGee is at the park getting a cup of coffee. He sees Ziva sitting alone on a bench and joins her. Ziva thanks McGee. He wants to know if she came to the Navy yard to say thanks. She tells him she’s getting ready for her next psych eval. McGee asks about the psychiatrist she’s seeing, Ziva describes her as “man hands and pretty eyes.” When she asks why, McGee says no reason. He asks how she is doing. Ziva admits the past 3 months were a challenge but it was in the past and the past is the past. He asks why she’s avoiding Tony.

Back at the squadroom, McGee is surprised to walk in and see Gibbs. He asks when Gibbs got back as he took a coffee break. McGee brings Gibbs up to speed, telling him the 3 deceased men went to the same high school and they were known for bullying. The men’s biggest target for bullying was Officer Shelley. DiNozzo runs in and needs to run to the head but Gibbs stops him. DiNozzo tells Gibbs what he found out from the Baltimore PD. He tells them Shelley pulled Ross over and gave him a ticket but when he realized who he was, he gave him 3 tickets. McGee shows a video on the web of Shelley being bullied by Sandrich, Jurrell and Ross in high school. They realize that each of the men died the same way in which they tormented Shelley. McGee goes off to get information while DiNozzo is doing a little dance. Gibbs tells him to “go shake it” and DiNozzo runs to the head.

Tony is in the bathroom singing and Ziva is standing there. She tells him she was there long enough to see how he was well hydrated after his time in the desert. Ziva says when he shot Michael she almost killed him where he stood. She tells him, Lying down, no backup, completely violating protocol and he reminds her he was also double-parked. Ziva says, “You had my back. You have always had my back. And I was wrong to question your motives.” He wants to know why she did. She tells him, “I trusted my brother Ari, I trusted Michael. I could not afford to trust you.” He responds, “I thought you weren’t sure what to say.” She replies, “I guess I had a long time to think about things.” Tony apologizes to Ziva but she says she is the one who is sorry. She leans in and kisses him on the cheek. She tells him, “Your instincts were right. You were a cop and I should have never faulted you for thinking…” He interrupts her and says he’s a cop, think like a cop. He grabs Ziva’s face as he says it then heads out of the room.

DiNozzo walks into the squadroom, calling McGee “McSidekick.” He reminds them that Shelley would have a second cell phone. As the first one is unregistered, McGee believes Shelley won’t have a registered phone. DiNozzo tells them how sometimes the evidence from a bust ends up in cop’s pockets. Turns out Shelley made a huge bust with 53 cell phones and he logged in all of their numbers. When McGee finds the second cell phone number, he notices it’s in use. Just then, Gibbs phone rings. Gibbs answers his phone, putting it on speaker phone. It’s Shelley and he wants to talk to DiNozzo. He tells DiNozzo he knows it looks bad, but it’s not how it looks. He says he was set up, he knew a deal was going down and he wanted to steal the men’s “pot of gold.” He asks DiNozzo if he knows where he is yet and McGee nods yes. Shelley gives DiNozzo an address to a phone booth where he can meet him.

DiNozzo shows up at the phone booth and there is a homeless man sleeping inside the booth. He wakes the man and tells him he has a phone call to make. He looks up and sees the phone is broken, so does the homeless man so he turns to go back to sleep. Gibbs sees Shelley’s car approaching, driving erratically. The SUB heads towards the phone booth so Tony grabs the homeless man and pulls him out of harm’s way. The SUV crashes and Gibbs and McGee run up to it. Gibbs checks Shelley’s pulse and discovers he’s dead with a gunshot wound to the back.

In autopsy, Ducky tells Gibbs the shooter was at point blank range so Shelley must have known his attacker, someone who knew his past. DiNozzo and McGee walk into autopsy and McGee sneezes as he reaches the corpse. Ducky tells them the body has cologne on it. McGee and Gibbs stare at each other, then they all run out, realizing the cologne is the key.

The team brings in Scorpio’s manager, Hector Stuckey, who has a black eye. Gibbs asks him how he got the shiner and Stuckey replies, “I cut myself shaving.” Gibbs points out Stuckey’s DNA is under Shelley’s fingernails. Stuckey finally admits he had nothing to do with killing the 3 men. Shelley showed up at his doorstep that morning and they got into a fight. He says that Jurrell approached Stuckey with a deal. When Gibbs mentions the package on the plane, Stuckey says the plane WAS the package. It was a military cargo plane scheduled for decommissioning. Ross approached him to sell it and the bachelor party was a ruse. Stuckey tells them he didn’t kill anyone as he has 50 people who can testify he was at the Club Pubis.

McGee and DiNozzo verify Stuckey’s alibi. Abby comes running into the squadroom and tells Gibbs that a new bullet fired from a 19th Century Tower Pistol was the murder weapon. The team leaves and heads to the Auctioneer house. When they arrive, they see Danorth, standing at the trunk of a car, placing the murder weapon into a case. He claims he noticed it was missing and had been looking for it. They inform him it was used as a murder weapon. He claims he has no knowledge of that and the car doesn’t belong to him. Gibbs says they know and asks where Elaine Marcus is. Danorth tells them he found the gun in her trunk and called her outside to ask about it. Just then Elaina comes outside, sees the NCIS team and attempts to run. She tells them they have no evidence but they tell her they were able to trace the fake suicide note on Shelley’s computer back to hers. She had learned of the cargo plane and partnered with Shelley to get the payout but ended up setting Shelley up for murder.

Gibbs returns home and Ziva is waiting in his basement. She tells him they need to talk. She says she sensed his hesitation when she asked to come back and she still feels it. There is tension between them as Ziva tries to work things out with Gibbs. Gibbs tells her he wants the truth, she had orders to kill Ari and earn his trust. Ziva admits she did, she volunteered for the mission to protect Ari. Gibbs tells her she killed her own brother and she lied to him. Ziva replies, “I would have lied to you, he was my brother. You were nothing. You were right about Ari. He is gone. Eli is dead to me and the closest thing I have to a father is accusing me….” Gibbs says, “Okay.”

Vance is walking across the squadroom talking on his cell phone to his wife. He reaches the elevator door as it opens, DiNozzo and McGee step out. Vance hesitates then says, “I love you too.” McGee and DiNozzo just stare at him, then Vance passes and enters the elevator. DiNozzo says “Okay, moving on” and they both walk into the squadroom. McGee begins to tell Tony that his date, Janice, is conducting Ziva’s psych eval but then sees Ziva’s stuff on her desk. Both men look up and McGee says “Ziva’s back.” Ziva walks into the room with a plant in her hands, puts it down on her desk and sits. McGee and DiNozzo both sit at their desks, pretending to work but staring at Ziva. All 3 go to work, smiling.

The terrorist goes into the cell with whom we believe is Ziva and pulls out a filled syringe from a hard case. He tells his prisoner that he must tell him everything they know, who they are and what they are doing there. The prisoner looks up and it's DiNozzo.

The terrorist tells Tony that the formula is of his own design; a mixture of sodium pentathol and other ingredients that he has found will help get the truth. Tony replies, "Your going to be dead soon, ya know. Truth or not." The terrorist says, "I have studied America carefully. I believe in knowing my enemy." Tony, unable to not use his typical sarcasm says, "I mean a man is as big as what he is seeking. I believe you're a big man." The terrorist finally introduces himself as Saleem Ulman. Saleem wants to know what Tony's mission is. Tony replies, "We're NCIS - Navy Criminal Investigative Services. We're tasked with pursuing crimes with the US Marine Corp. and their families." Tony reveals the names of the team one by one but no mission. He has a flashback to May, where he and McGee were trying to take down a large military man. Gibbs came in and took him down instead.

Present Day:
Saleem wants to know where the rest of the team is. Tony tells him he doesn't know. Saleem ask Tony what his mission is and why he was riding alone in the desert. Tony replies, "I'm only here for one reason, vengeance. I'm here to kill you."

Saleem walks around in front of Tony sand says, "DiNozzo, is an Italian name?" Tony asks if he's an educated man. Saleem says he got his B.S. from Yale University in America. Tony replies, "I got my BS on the streets." Saleem is curious to know why Tony chose him as his target. Tony says, "I didn't. A little while ago, I didn't even know you existed and I was happier then.

Flashback to June:
McGee and DiNozzo are at NCIS, coming out of the elevator chatting. DiNozzo is trying to convince McGee to come over and fix his computer. Tony quotes the movie "Bad Day at Black Rock" with Spencer Tracy. Gibbs walks in and tells them to grab their gear. McGee nudges Tony to bring it up and Tony tells him to. McGee finally broaches the subject to Gibbs of replacing Ziva. Gibbs grabs a stack of files and drops them on Ziva's desk and tells them it's all theirs. Tony starts looking and questions where the women are, Gibbs tells him they are all women. Tony wants to know if they have photos. On the way into the elevator, Tony jokes about the casting couch and Gibbs tells him no casting couch as the door closes.

The team is onboard a naval ship, investigating the death of a navy officer, Wingate. Tony and McGee are chatting back and forth when Ducky arrives to do a preliminary check on the body. Ducky quotes an old classmate of his "E Landon Reginald Ellsworth III." DiNozzo makes fun of the man's name. Ducky puts Wingate's time of death 6 hours earlier. Gibbs leaves the bunk and Ducky asks if McGee or Tony have heard from Ziva and both reply no. Ducky tells them it's time to move on then.

Back in the squadroom, DiNozzo is sitting at his desk, McGee standing nearby. The two agents are interview female officers to replace Ziva. The first one, a blonde is dismissed by Tony with a "thank you pantsuit girl." Next up is DEA Agent, Claire Connell. She introduces herself and gives Tony an extremely firm handshake. Tony comments on her firm grip and she replies, "Yeah, I was a pack a day smoker. Quit, by occupying my hands with power putty. McGee reviews her records stating she has excellent aptitude skills and good reviews from her colleagues at the DEA. Tony asks why she'd want to leave there. She tells them she was involved with a coworker in a personal relationship and it had become difficulty for the other person to control their emotions. Tony says he hates clingy guys. When she just looks at him, she says "clingy girls?" McGee says he didn't ask. She says it was interfering with her ability to perform her duties at the higher level. After he brief interview, they both give her their vote. McGee tells her she has to begin on the job training but Gibbs makes the final decision.

DiNozzo is babbling outside the conference room about chemistry. He is pleased with hiring Claire and so is McGee. Suddenly the door flies open and Claire comes rushing out crying. She runs by them. Gibbs follows, slaps the folder into McGee's chest and says "strike one."

Present day... Saleem asks Tony why he's not looking for Ziva. Tony says he would but it's impossible, Ziva David is dead.

Saleem opens a canteen and points out the obvious - how he has always been fascinated by the cause and effect reactions. Tony is all but drooling when Saleem takes a sip from his canteen. Saleem says that caffeine keeps him sharp and alert. he then walks over to Tony and asks "Who is n control of the flow of your information." Tony replies, "Must be a lonely place to sit at the top of the pyramid? Not to mention uncomfortable." He then introduces and we get a flashback of Director Leon Vance. "Some don't like him, some don't trust him," Tony says.

Flashback to July.....
Gibbs is in Vance's office and inquires about Ziva. Gibbs wants his know if Vance has received any information from his good friend "Director David." Vance tells him that for 2 months he's been in the dark but he believes Ziva is part of Mossad again.

McGee is in interrogation with Petty Officer Dominic Dimarco asking him about drugs. Dimarco tells him he wouldn't know what drugs look like; someone must have slipped them in his orange juice. McGee asks how he would know that. Dimarco says he must have saw it on t.v. in 90210 or something like that. In the observation room, DiNozzo is chatting with another potential candidate, Captain Rebecca "Becky" Hastings, USAF. She and Tony exchange banter and it's clear that Tony is uncomfortable. Tony leaves her alone in the interrogation room and joins Gibbs in MTAC.

Gibbs is chatting with NCIS Special Agent Chad Dunham on the big screen. They are conducting searches and raids in North Africa. Dunham tells Gibbs that whoever was in a specific location has moved on but there is evidence of a female captive. Dunham tells Gibbs they'd answer him before Gibbs. He jokes and says to Gibbs, "By looking at that baby smooth skin, they might think they are looking at another girl." They both chuckle and end their conversation. DiNozzo walks up and shows Gibbs Hastings file and tells Gibbs she likes to live on the edge, take risks an she believes NCIS might offer some new challenges. Gibbs asks for DiNozzo's opinion and DiNozzo's reply is, "well ya know, women....". DiNozzo asks what Gibbs was doing. Gibbs just mentions that the Mossad presence is heavier in North Africa and either they are looking for something or cleaning up after a mess with casualties.

McGee and DiNozzo are out having dinner and DiNozzo is distracted. McGee keeps up the conversation but eventually DiNozzo gets up to leave. Tony says how odd it for Ziva not to make any contact with any of them. They both express concern and agree something must have happened to her. DiNozzo says he is going to do something about it and tells McGee to not try and talk him out of it. McGee says he wasn't.

Back to the present moment... Saleem walks by another captive on the floor. He tells Tony, "When he wakes up, he will learn what a mistake your partner made, following your lead." He kicks the prisoner over and we see McGee.

Saleem asks Tony, "You believe I am responsible for the death of this Ziva David? So you drive halfway around the world to kill me. It's insane!." Tony replies, "I'm insane? You kill indiscriminately?" Saleem says "The news carries around Italy. You change the words with rivers of blood. There is no reason to kill one person." Saleem wants to know how Tony found him and who he is leaving out.

Flashback to August.....
McGee and Tony have approached Abby for help. She is upset with them for leaving her out. They both try and tell her it was nothing personal and convince her to help them. Abby admits she's been tracking Ziva's moves and had also been trying many different ways to reach Ziva. With their backs to the door, the three of them brainstorm. The newbie walks in, Becky, and overhears McGee say they have two things to do: Hack into Mossad or hack into Vance. The tough as nails Becky quits and storms out.

Sitting at his desk, DiNozzo is on the phone when another women is brought to his desk. He clearly forgot he had another interview for the job. Officer Heather Kincaid introduces herself. She's a police officer with the Seattle PD, just like her father and uncle. Tony brings her down to the observation room while Gibbs is interrogating and trying to break Petty Officer Dimarco. McGee is upset over the fact that they have been interview this "poor helpless victim for 3 months, with a bad heart. It took two dead before they figured out he was the pusher, not a victim." DiNozzo is still thinking about Ziva and tells Kincaid they are not hiring right then and he is sorry to waste her time. He leaves the observation room at the same time Gibbs leaves interrogation. They stop in the hallway and look at one another for a moment and then walk away.

Tony walks into Abby's lab. She and McGee are excited as they hacked into and accessed Mossad's encrypted files. Abby and McGee begin to play what is a children's song and end up signing along to it. Tony looks at them like they are nuts but asks what the goat is. Abby explains that the goat is the information that they got from the laptop they found in Ziva's apartment after the explosion. The information was given to Vance, who then proceeded to hand it off to Director David. Abby explains that Ziva boarded a Jordanian freighter out of the Horn of Africa but lost track of it. Gibbs walks in and tells them the freighter went down in a storm on the 28th of May and there no survivors. Tony tells Saleem that after that it was business as usual but it had lost all meaning. Tony went through the motions of work until one morning Gibbs told him to grab his gear and Tony refused. When Gibbs looked at him, Tony told him he wanted to stop the terrorist before someone else died. Gibbs told him to present his case.

In MTAC, Tony, McGee and Abby presented their evidence on the big screen to Vance and Gibbs. They showed hard data and when Vance asked how they were able to find it, Abby smiled and pointed to her Caf-Pow. Turns out Saleem's became addicted to the caffeine of Caf-Pow when he attended Yale University. It was through the shipments of it he had sent to him that they were able to track him down.

Present Day...
When Saleem realizes he was found out due to his caffeine fetish, he threw the canteen across the room and storm out, while Tony taunted him. Saleem returned with a hooded prisoner. He says to Tony, "One of you has to reveal information and the other dies. I'll give you a moment to chose." Saleem removes the hood from the prisoner and leaves the room. The prisoner is revealed to be a battered and bruised Ziva. Ziva and Tony are shocked to see one another but after a moment of silence, Tony asks, "Well... so how's your summer?"

Ziva asks, "Out of everyone in the world who could have found me, it had to be you." Tony tells her she's welcome. Ziva tells him he shouldn't have come. Tony replies, "Well alright then, good catching up, I'll be going now. Oh yeah, I forgot, taken prisoner." Ziva asks McGee if he's alright. He replies he's just glad she's alive. Ziva looks pained as she asks if they thought she was dead. She asks why they are there. "Tony replies, "I couldn't live without you I guess." Ziva quietly says, "So you will die with me? You should have left me alone. I did not ask anyone to put themselves in harms way for me. I do not deserve it. It's justified." Tony tells her to get over herself and then informs her that he is under the influence of truth serum so she shouldn't ask any questions she doesn't want to hear the answers to. Ziva tells both men they need to tell Saleem everything he wants to hear and save themselves. She says he is ready to die. McGee says, "That's not how it works." They tell her they have a plan and Tony winks. She informs them there are thirty heavily armed men with anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons. She wants to know what they have.

Flashback to September....
In Vance's office, Tony shows Vance and McGee satellite photos of Saleem's position. Vance says he needs hard truth and he won't send Seals into the desert until they have confirmation Saleem is there. Tony looks unhappy and leaves the room. Gibbs smirks and follows him out. Gibbs suggests, in a cryptic way, that they change things out and send Agents into the area, then he can sell it to Vance. Tony isn't fully following Gibbs but volunteers himself and McGee.

Present Day...
McGee and Tony are driving through the desert in a military jeep, with McGee complaining about being volunteered. They stop at a blown-up building, which appears to be deserted. McGee pulls out the satellite phone to make a call as they are ambushed, beaten and taken prisoners by heavily armed men. Ziva is surprised to find out they willingly allowed themselves to be taken prisoners.

When Saleem returns, he walks to the window and tells the prisoners they are pulling out an not taking prisoners. Saleem pulls a knife and puts it to Ziva's throat. Ziva tells him that if Tony and McGee don't make contact with their team, Saleem's camp will be invaded by the Americans. She tells him to kill her and use the Americans as leverage. Saleem says he doesn't make deals. Tony laughs and quotes the movie "True Lies." He tells Saleem he has 30 seconds to live. Saleem laughs and says Tony is still tied up so how can he kill him. Tony says, "I can lie and didn't say it was going to be me. Remember I told you my boss was a sniper." Saleem looks up at the window and a shot rings out, comes through the window hitting Saleem in the head. Saleem falls to the floor. As the three are scrambling to untie each other and get out of the building, another terrorist comes in but he is taken out by a sniper as well. Tony and McGee half-carry, half-drag Ziva and are confronted by another terrorist. The terrorist gets shot from behind so the three continue around the corner. At the end of the hallway, they see Gibbs standing there with his sniper rifle.

Back at NCIS headquarters, Ziva, Tony and McGee, still dirty, battered and bruised, and Gibbs are in the elevator. Tony jokes about it being another day at the office. Ziva is quiet as the elevator opens and the four of them exit into the squadroom. Everyone looks at them, including Vance who is standing on the stairs. Vance begins clapping and everyone joins in. Abby walks up to Ziva and draws her into a hug. Tony sits at his desk and then makes eye contact with Ziva over Abby's shoulder.

Gibbs drinking H2O!
Tony is a smart mouth even with "truth serum" in him. His description of Gibbs being a "functional mute." And generally just blabbering. "I got my BS in the streets."
The scene in Abby's lab, when they are all explaining things but no one is listening.
Tony and Tim are following Abby around the evidence table in her lab for a couple of circuits.
When McGee tells Abby and Tony they will have to do one of 2 things, both illegal: either hack into Mossad or hack into Vance. The newbie, Becky, overhears them and quits on the spot. And they picked the Mossad instead of Vance to hack!
McGee saying he wants to buy a pair of red leather pants, something that really cradle his butt. :)

A navy ship is warning a small sailboat as it comes closer to their ship. The ship's captain realizes it's a non-threatening boat and calls it a "hand-built Amigo kit." The captain says he isn't worried about it being attacked unless they suicided a little early. As he looks through his binoculars, he sees 2 dead bodies aboard the sailboat and says it's a crime scene. He tells the woman standing beside him, Agent Cortez, that it looks like it's got her name on it. It's got someones name but not hers. The back of the boat reads "KELLY."

In the squadroom, Ziva is sleeping, face down on her desk. McGee tells Tony it's a trap, Ziva is practically inviting them to mess with her. "Well, what kind of man would I be to turn down such an enticing invitation?" says Tony. "Oh, wouldn't be a sucker," McGee says and walks away. Tony can't resist, takes a pen and leans down to write on Ziva's face. "Touch me and die," Ziva says, with her eyes still closed. Tony realizes she's awake and puts the pen down and tells Ziva that sleeping on the job isn't going to help her shed the probie tag. Ziva has been on the job since 1:00am since Gibbs called her in to cover because Vance, Gibbs and Ducky flew out for a new case in the San Diego harbor. "Ducky means bodies. He called you to cover?" Tony says. Ziva sits up with a piece of paper stuck to her cheek and says she believes Gibbs called it hazing. Tony pulls the paper off Ziva's face and says "I believe this is called the 'Bill of Rights'." He asks Ziva if she's studying to become a naturalized American citizen. Ziva replies she has to if she wants to become an agent. From his desk, McGee gives a thumbs up and says, "Good for you Ziva." Tony wants to know if they want her to become an American and Ziva wants to know how he has a say. Tony holds up the Constitution and points to it, then says it talks about dangerous foreign aliens stealing their bodily fluids. McGee tells him that's "Dr. Strangelove." Tony mentions the 16th Amendment, which Ziva quotes. Tony wants to know if Ziva is learning this information through Osmosis. "We'll be lucky to have you Ziva. The more the merrier," says McGee. Tony walks to his desk, talking about the American Dream. McGee wants to know if Tony really knows what he's even talking about. Tony says he does and Ziva asks what Tony knows about the American Dream. "Well, let's see. I'm a white male between the ages of 18 and 49 with a loudmouth and a gun. I am the American Dream," Tony replies. McGee's phone rings and he says, "Oh thank god," as he answers it. "Two dead bodies and photos coming your way. Tell Abby to clear the decks," Gibbs says from the other end of the phone.

At the San Diego Harbor, Gibbs walks up to the "Kelly" as Agent Cortez says he ran the registration and found it was registered to Agent Gibbs. She starts to ask Gibbs questions, but Vance redirects her. Ducky is on-board the vessel, turning over one of the bodies. When asked, Agent Cortez says she didn't touch the bodies, she was trained better. Ducky checks their pockets but there's no identification, only cash, dollars and peso's. After Vance asks where she thinks the vessel came from, Cortez says probably Mexico. Vance remarks that usually Viking's set the vessel on fire for a funeral and asks Gibbs if he knows any Viking's in Mexico. Gibbs smirks. Ducky and Vance remark that Gibbs had only taken one vacation this year, he sailed the Gulf of Mexico and then bought a one-way ticket back. Gibbs says, "Did I have the fish or did I have the lasagna?" Gibbs said he sailed the boat to Mexico, Mike trailered it to the Gulf, it was a gift for his goddaughter. "This is how he repays you," Vance says. He then tells Cortez to clear the path with the Federales for them, they are headed south of the border.

Gibbs, Vance and Cortez show up at Mike Franks place. Cortez draws her weapon but Gibbs tells her it's not necessary. Cortez identifies herself and she and Vance go in and check out the place. Gibbs heads up the beach and looks over some cans, paintbrush, etc. on the beach. Vance looks at Gibbs, hands on his hips and says, "Nobody's home. So where the hell is Mike Franks?" Gibbs just looks out at the ocean and doesn't respond.

Back at NCIS, Tony, Ziva, McGee and Abby get off the elevator in the evidence garage. They are in awe of Gibb's sailboat and shocked it's no longer in Gibbs basement. "This is Gibbs' boat?" Ziva asks. "This is the crime scene. It was flown here on a C130 cargo plane along with two bodies and all the evidence and now it is mine. It is all mine. So I can figure out the mystery, "Abby says. The trio speculate about Abby's mystery, assuming it's the crime scene. Abby tells them they can figure that all out while she figures out how he got it out of the basement.

Gibbs goes into Vance's office. He says he has tried all of Franks' aliases but hasn't gotten any hits yet. Ducky told them the bodies had been floating around for 3 days and Vance wants to know if there is a hit on the ID's yet. The 2 victims are Calvin Blanchard and Roy Keenan, both with military backgrounds, both dishonorably discharged. Blanchard is Army, Keenan washed out of the Navy a years ago and Mike Franks was already retired so there was no professional connection. Cortez had gotten some information that both men had been going around asking about Mike Franks the previous week. Gibbs is unable to come up with any links other than a grudge. He thinks the two men got into it with Franks, shoved him overboard and now he's disappeared. Vance wonders if Gibbs knows where Mike might be, but Gibbs replies, "Your guess is as good as mine Leon." Vance doesn't believe him but he's willing to give him some leeway because it's Gibbs friend, boat and mess. He also tells Gibbs his patience will run thin if another body shows up before Franks does. Gibbs smirks then leaves his office.

Gibbs shows up in autopsy. Ducky says, "I've only just begun Jethro. I'm afraid you've jumped the gun." "Interesting choice of words," Gibbs replies. "How very Freudian of me" Ducky laughs. Both men were shot repeatedly; 6 in one body, 5 in the other at very close range using a large caliber weapon. Ducky begins one of his rants about cowboys so Gibbs asks him if he has something against cowboys. Ducky has always felt there's a fine line between cowboy and outlaw. Gibbs wants to know what Ducky's conclusion is. "Mike Franks has crossed that line," Ducky replies. Gibbs defends Mike and says it's too soon to be calling him a killer. Ducky feels it's the exact opposite because to much time and thought went into the killing and setting the crime scene. Ducky holds up 2 glass jars with wood splinters on them that were taken from the victims backsides. Both men were dragged onto "The Kelly" intentionally. Ducky would be surprised if anything about their discovery was not intentional.

Gibbs goes down to the evidence garage to speak with Abby. She pops out from below deck with some headgear on and tells him she is taking the utmost care with his craftsmanship. He asks what she has found. Abby doesn't feel the gunfight began on The Kelly but definitely ended there. She's still trying to find corresponding slugs for all the spent .45 casings. She points out another bullet grazed the portside, smaller caliber than the others. a .22 caliber which was below the water line and didn't embed in the boat. Gibbs realizes the boat wasn't in the water during the shootout. As he's leaving, Abby tells him she'll be careful when removing the rest of the slugs from the wood. Gibbs looks at her and tells her to take it apart.

In the squadroom, McGee is review the financial information between Blanchard and Keenan. He finds a link between the 2 men, but none to Mike Franks. Tony wonders why 2 bad guys would go after Mike Franks. "Well, clearly they don't know him very well," McGee replies. Tony thinks it's an interesting theory while McGee only meant it as a joke. "Some of the greatest ideas in history start out as jokes," Tony adds. He mentions the mood ring, pet rock and Ziva tells him those were all terrible ideas. Tony points out how those ideas turned the inventors into "zillionaires" and that is the American Dream. "The heart of America is that any idiot can become a success?" Ziva asks. Tony rants about his theory on the American Dream, winning the lottery, slipping on the right driveway and quotes "Little Orphan Annie." Ziva looks puzzled as she doesn't know who that is, so McGee explains. Tony wants to know if there's an essay portion on her citizenship exam because she should be writing it down. Ziva snaps her pencil in 2 and says, "Oh, shame, my pencil broke." He starts to bust on her about destruction of U.S. Government property when Gibbs walks in. Tony tells him McGee had an interesting idea. "Ah what was that exactly because you just started talking a bunch of nonsense and never actually said what you were thinking," McGee replies. Ziva chuckles. Tony chases Gibbs to the elevator and talks about McGee's theory. Gibbs tells Tony to find the connection as the elevator doors close.

In his basement, Gibbs pulls down a photo of him and Franks fishing when he hears a door closing and a child talking. A woman and child are standing in his living room. Gibbs rushes into the room as the woman tells him, "It's okay, it's just us." It's Mike Franks daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Gibbs takes Amira and kisses her mother on the cheek, welcoming them to his home. Gibbs sends the woman to put Amira down to sleep in another room. Mike walks in with bags and asks Gibbs if he is just going to stand there or is he going to help him with the bags or just shoot him. Gibbs says he'd rather start out asking a few questions and wants to know why the 2 men were after him. Mike was hoping Gibbs could tell him.

Mike stopped into the Cantina on Saturday when the bartender told him the 2 men were looking for him and the 2 girls. When they showed up at his place, he had no idea what they wanted until he saw the guns. Mike says he didn't feel good about using Amira's boat like that but he didn't want to risk being investigated by strangers or the Federales. So he steered the boat towards the Navy. "Better to be investigated by a friend," Franks says. "Thanks for the honor," Gibbs says. Gibbs isn't to pleased to be cleaning up another of Mike's messes and wants to know where Leyla and Amira were. Franks says they were tucked away safely. He's not happy when he thinks Gibbs is calling him old. Gibbs tells him, "There comes a time when you hang up your spurs." "I don't need you or anybody else to tell me when that is. I'll know because I'll be dead," Franks replies. Leyla walks in and tells him she hates it when he talks like that. Franks brought his girls there to keep them out of danger. Leyla tells Gibbs that Mike is threatening to leave them. Franks says he will do whatever he has to to protect his family. Gibbs wants him to leave it to the professionals.

In the squadroom, the team is reviewing Blanchard and Keenan's records. Both men were PMC's (Private Military Contractors). Blanchard cracked up and couldn't get it together and Keenan had a lot of problems with authority. Both men were kicked out of the military and found new homes working for First Defense COO (Chief Operating Officer) Colonel Martin Bell. Bell is a former tank commander and runs the largest PMC in the Middle East - armed security forces protecting mostly corporate employers. He also has governmental contracts, American and otherwise, securing reconstruction projects. Gibbs tells them to bring it in. Vance walks in and asks if they have a location on Mike Franks. Gibbs tells hm they don't. Vance points out that Franks was living with his daughter-in-law and grandchild and can't believe they can't track a man on the run with an Iraqi woman and child. Gibbs has been focused on the deadmen. Vance has a problem with Gibbs bringing Bell in. The two men head up to Vance's office to continue their conversation. Vance's reasons for not wanting to drag Bell in are political. He feels Gibbs' approach lacks finesse, he should take the same approach Vance gave Gibbs. "You mean rub his nose in it," Gibbs says. "Are you worried I'm to blunt Leon?" Gibbs asks. Vance feels Gibbs approach is to direct especially when he hasn't found the man who killed the 2 men yet. Gibbs lets on that Franks and his family are staying at his house. Gibbs has to send his team to keep an eye on Franks while he comes up with a better way to take on Bell. Gibbs asks for Vance's help on it and Vance says "It's like we were reading each other's minds" as he picks up his phone.

DiNozzo lets himself into Gibbs' house and is greeted with the barrel of Franks' gun. DiNozzo tried to call but Franks didn't answer and he let himself in because there is no lock on the door. The two men debate why there is no lock on the door and why Franks had a gun aimed at him (no lock!). Ziva walks between them telling them it's been very educational. Franks is happy to see her and calls her "Lady Ziva." "We have been instructed to sit on the baby," Ziva says. Mike looks at Tony, puzzled by Ziva's statement. Tony tells Mike it's going to be fine and holds out a mint. McGee is waiting outside to take Mike to NCIS for questioning. Leyla is worried about Mike leaving but he assures her it's for the best. As Tony is popping the mint into his mouth, Mike tells him to put something in front of the door. Tony will just stand there with his gun, he says as Mike rolls his eyes. Mike walks out, Tony slams the door and says "That guy."

In the NCIS confere nce room Vance is questioning Bell while Gibbs stands in the back of the room. They make small talk at first while Vance gets coffee. Bells gives them a rundown of his business. Gibbs asks if the men were good at their job. Gibbs and Bell go back and forth about the "quality" of men Bell hires and Gibbs wants to know what they have to do to get disqualified to work for Bell. Bell demands Gibbs just ask him the question outright. Bell admits the 2 men were carrying firearms in Mexico because they were carrying out a contract. Vance asks if the contract was on Mike Franks. Bell asks, "Who the hell is Mike Franks?" McGee and Franks are getting off the elevator when Vance and Bell are heading towards it. Neither man appears to know the other but Mike does glance back. Bell expects justice and for Vance to keep him updated on the case. Franks stops at Gibbs desk and asks if Bell is the man who put the hit on him. Gibbs tells him there was no hit on Franks. Leyla's family hired Bell's men to find Leyla and Amira, Mike was just a lead and Mike killed them. "You want to know who the damn bad guy is here? Go look in the mirror," Gibbs tells Franks.

In Vance's office, he comments how Mike doesn't look broken up for killing 2 men in cold blood. "Is that how you see it?" Franks asks Gibbs. Mike reminds Gibbs of how Lelyla's family was. They disowned her for becoming pregnant and marrying his son, Liam. Shada Shakarki, Leyla's mother is a bad woman with connections in Iraq. She's one of the most prominent matriarchs of one of the tribes in Iraq. Shada buried all of the male members of her family, father, brothers, husband, sons, etc. so she fell into the roll. She's a vindicative women who was willing to pay to bring Leyla and Amiri back home. Vance wants to know what weapon he used. Franks says it was a .45, he put 3 in the big guy and 2 in the other, then dragged them onboard the boat and put 3 more in each of them for good measure, it was self-defense. Vance pulls out a pad and pen and hands it to Gibbs, telling him to get Franks statement. Gibbs drops the pad and pen on the table in front of Franks.

In the evidence garage, Abby is using a chainsaw to take the boat apart, in sections. McGee gets off the elevator, yells her name to get her attention and wants to know what she is doing. She tells him that Gibbs told her to do it but she's taking it apart carefully and making notes where everything came from so it can be put back together. "But your using a chainsaw," McGee says. Abby tells him it's not like there was a zipper and McGee wants to know it was worth it. She found a hidden stash box on the boat where Franks keeps a gun. McGee remarks how he keeps we apons hidden everywhere because it took them 15 minutes to get through security. He tells her it's a sawblade, curled and in a hollow part of his boot, when Abby wants to know if it was a .22. She shows him a pair of mangled bullets that appear to have been in the air at the same time and hit one another.

From Abby's lab, McGee calls Tony to tell him. Tony heads down into the basement to talk to them because he doesn't want to talk in front of Leyla and Amira. Abby tells Tony to check the seams of the walls in the basement. She wants to know if they are removable or something appears like it doesn't belong. "Actually I think Colonel Hogan has a radio in the coffee pot but the tunnel might have been filled in," Tony replies. Abby's computer bells start going off and they get a negative match on the bullets. "I think we've got another shooter," McGee says.

Ziva is chatting with Amira and tells her she has peaceful eyes. Leyla agrees and says she left Iraq due to the violence, she wants the peace in Amira's eyes to last forever. "Sometimes the most significant moments happen in your life without any choice at all," Leyla says. Ziva asks Leyla if she misses her homeland. Leyla says it was difficult to leave it all behind, to pick up and start over again but doing it for the right reasons made it easier. Tony walks in and tells Leyla that Ziva is trying to start over again, rebuild her life, again. Ziva gets up and goes to the window. Tony asks Leyla about her home in Mexico. She says it's simple, big enough for the 3 of them. Tony asks her about the shootout and exactly where Amira was.

In the squadroom, McGee is going over the background on Shada. Franks, who is writing his statement at Gibbs' desk pipes up and says he could have told them everything. Gibbs just tells him to keep writing. Gibbs phone rings and Franks answers it, "Gibbs desk." It's Ducky asking Gibbs to come down to autopsy. When Gibbs walks into autopsy, Abby is standing there with jars on a table with bullet slugs in them. "You know we have enormous respect for you and the loyalty you exhibit toward your friends," Ducky says. Abby puts her hand on Gibbs left shoulder and says, "Gibbs, we love you, very very much." "What the hell is this?" he asks. Abby calls it an intervention. Ducky tells Gibbs that his own personal history is having a blinding judgement on his skills as an investigator. Abby rambles about Franks being a 6 foot hero and Ducky finally blurts out, "He's lying to us." Abby points out all the .45 caliber slugs. As Ducky starts to tell Gibbs his theory, Gibbs gets ahead of him. Mike Franks did not kill the men. All the shots from the .45 were fired from the same angle, standing over the bodies. Both victims were shot with a rifle, Mike used his .45 and shot through the bodies in the same areas they'd already been shot. Franks was destroy the evidence.

Gibbs picks up Franks statement as he's about to sign it. Gibbs reminds Franks of a story from one of their early cases. Two men went hunting with a young boy, duck hunting. Franks makes a joke about it being geese but Gibbs doesn't laugh, he says it was funny in the past because Mike was his superior. One man came out dragging the other man, his chest half-blown off. There was nothing accidental about it but Mike didn't pursue any charges. The boy's gun had gone off and blown a hole through the man's heart. The Sergeant was standing over his best friend, his 10 year old son had just killed him. Thinking he had failed them both, the Sergeant had decided to take the bullet for himself. He put his own gun into the man's chest and fired, blowing away the evidence of what his son had done. Mike rips up his statement saying, "This ain't gonna work. When did ya figure it?" Before Gibbs can respond, from his desk, McGee tells Gibbs he got a hit on Shada recent activity, she's on a commercial plane on her way to DC.

McGee is standing at the airport, holding a sign with Shada's name on it. She drops her luggage and tells McGee she is Shada Shakarki and walks by him. McGee grabs her luggage, welcomes her to Washington and tells her the car is right out front.

Shada is in interrogation with Franks, Vance and Gibbs standing in the observation room. Vance asks what she is doing there. "Taking a hands-on approach with her daughter. Her first attempt lacked finesse," Gibbs responds. Vance asks how Mike's statement is coming. "Oh it's a load of crap. Probie called me on it. I lied to you guys," Franks says. Vance tells him that's his only trait her finds endearing, at least there won't be any more bodies. Franks says there will if they let Shada go free. Vance wonders what Mike thinks they could hold her on. "Conspiracy to be a *****?" Mike asks. Gibbs says it's the one thing Mike told the truth about, he is protecting his family. Vance tells Franks to go in and work it out with the "In-laws" and asks if he still knows his way around the room.

Mike goes into the interrogation room. Shada tells him she's been tracking his every move since his cursed offspring ruined her daughter. The two of them argue and talk over one another. She accuses him of hiding her family from me. Mike reminds her that she disowned them. Shada says she's lost to much already. Leyla and her daughter are her blood. She sits down. Mike rips into her for sending the hired guns after the girls. Shada says she was assured there would be no trouble, no violence. Mike tells her what happened. His defenses were down, he never heard them coming because he was in the boat playing with Amira. Amira wanted to paint her name on the side of the boat. When Mike looked down, the 2 men were standing there with their guns drawn. Leyla saw them from the house and fired 6 rounds, 5 hitting the 2 men. She is surprised to learn that Leyla knows how to shoot. He says he taught her. Mike tells her the 2 girls will be safer with him, he won't let her take them back into the fold. Shada's face falls and she tells Mike that she already paid for the services, Colonel Bell assured her the job would be completed. Mike turns around and looks at the observation mirror.

Gibbs calls Ziva and tells her what is going on. Ziva tells Leyla to bring Amira down to the basement and wants to know if she knows how to shoot. She pulls the blinds down and as Leyla heads upstairs, the power is cut and a flash bang is tossed in through a window and goes off in the living room. Ziva and Tony are caught offguard and 3 heavily armed, masked men come in. Ziva recognizes the voice of one of the men as Marine Corporal Damon Worth, who was dishonorably discharged. He asks what Ziva is doing there because he's there to rescue a kidnapped woman and her daughter. Ziva corrects him saying he's abducting, not rescuing the 2 girls. The other 2 men get antsy and want to finish the job. Damon disarms both men and thinks the NCIS team should be heard first.

Bell pulls up on a side street to meet up with Corporal Worth. Worth gets out of his car, says he he is finished with his mission. Gibbs, Ziva and Tony get out also. Bell wants to know what Worth has done. Worth quits. Tony says it's a shame as Worth is a pretty loyal guy too. Gibbs walks up and says, "You made a mess outta my house. I'm just gonna have to clean that up." "You want to go punch for punch with me Gibbs? Keep in mind I got a big arsenal behind me," Bell says, "I would worry your suit covers it up pretty nicely," Tony replies. "Sorry I'm a little wacky because of the flash bang your boys threw at us," Tony says to Bell. Bell feels maybe his men were over-exuberant in their task but he hasn't broken any laws. Gibbs points out that he may not have broken any U.S. laws, but the Federales want to talk to Bell because bounty hunting is illegal south of the border. "God bless Mexico," Ziva says. "I tell my men, you take a swing make sure you connect hard enough to take a man down," Bell says. Gibbs says, "Good advice," and handcuffs Bell. Gibbs walks by worth and says he should tell them to get a haircut. Worth laughs.

Vance is in his office and asks Gibbs if he thinks the grandparents can work it out. Gibbs relays a story his grandfather used to tell him that goes back many years and dates after the Civil War. His great-great grandfather and grandmother had fathers who were always at it. They probably shot at each other on the battle field. They couldn't even look at each other at their children's wedding but they did come to live with each other in the same house. They spent everyday for the rest of their lives, sitting out on the front porch in wicker rocking chairs. Vance assumed they worked things out but Gibbs smiles and says, "From the way I heard it, those 2 never spoke a word." While Gibbs is telling the story, we see Leyla and Amira playing on the beach, while Mike and Shada stand on the porch, watching the girls, but not looking at one another.

Brief Bio on acting Career:
Brian lives in Los Angeles with his wife.

Brian’s first call to acting came in the form of a school play at the age of 8 years old. He played an evil elf in a Christmas play, and from there on out he was hooked. He attended Niwot High School in Colorado where he landed the lead roles in several classics before he set out to study theatre at the University of Colorado at Boulder’s BFA acting program. There he met his good friend and mentor, Sean Kelley. With Sean he earned the lead roles in the critically acclaimed productions of “All My Sons”, Equus”, and “Waiting for Godot”. He also starred in productions of “Death and the Maiden”, “Antigone,” and the regional premiere of “Abingdon Square”. While working on several local and regional commercials, Brian joined The Colorado Shakespeare Festival for two years, and performed in “Henry IV pts I and II,” “Henry V” and “Julius Caesar”.

At the end of his college career, Brian took the advice of his good friend and agent, Patty Kingsbaker, and moved west to Los Angeles. It didn’t take Brian long to get tired of the monotonous nature of waiting by the phone for auditions, so he started writing letters to anyone who would listen. Without an agent or a SAG card, Brian was called into an audition by Patrick Rush for the new WB series “My Guide to Becoming a Rockstar” produced by John Riggi (Will and Grace, 30 Rock). The part was a series regular (the drummer of the group) and Brian was cast. Though the series was short lived, Brian had a wonderful time in Vancouver, and came back to LA with a new sense of purpose and direction.

Upon returning, he teamed up once again with John Riggi for a two man show with Steve Rudnick (The Santa Clause trilogy, Kicking and Screaming). “The Oldest Man in Showbusiness” was extremely well written, and very well received. Right after the show closed, Brian traveled down to Miami to work with Kelly Clarkson and Anika Noni Rose on the new Rob Iscove (She’s All That) movie, “From Justin to Kelly.”

Upon returning from Miami, Brian did stage readings with friends, and eventually formed the sketch comedy group “The Norm” with Kevin Rankin (Friday Night Lights, Undeclared) and Jill Farley. Together the group produced a live sketch show, and a popular web series “Coaching Life”.

During a short hiatus from The Norm, Brian auditioned for a one day part on the hit series “NCIS”. He booked the role and three years later, the character of Jimmy Palmer is still helping the NCIS team at crime scenes and assisting Dr. Mallard during autopsies. The experience and friends made on the set of “NCIS’ has been wonderful for Brian, and he always looks forward to the next script.

BRIAN DIETZEN AS JIMMY PALMER

Since Brian joined NCIS in what was supposed to be a one-off appearance, he has rapidly won hearts as the gawky but lovable Jimmy Palmer.

His first outing as an actor was as an evil elf in a school Christmas play. A bit of a remove from Jimmy Palmer!

Over the years we have watched Brian grow into the role of Palmer. Gawky, unsure, afraid of Gibbs and hero worshiping Ducky. Jimmy is the character I think we all unconsciously identify with. Quite a load to put on Brian's shoulders. I don't think I have heard anyone say they don't like the character. That is really quite an achievement for an actor. To create a character that is universally liked.

But don't make the mistake of confusing the actor with the character. Anyone who has the season 6 dvds should watch the featurette "Bodies of Work" about the making of the dead bodies. This feature is hosted by Brian and shows him to be a million miles away from his character.

Looking across the series, I think the episode that best showcases Brian's talent is the season 5 episode "About Face". We see sides of Palmer that simply haven't been visible to us before...and I am not just talking about the shoe fetish either! We see a strength and a courage that we simply did not associate with Jimmy Palmer. The writers asked a lot of Brian with this script, and he delivered.

It is disappointing that Palmer's first outing in season 7 was a retrograde step with "Code of Conduct". That script was unfair on Brian. Giving him appalling lines and taking his character back to where it was in season 2. I hope that for the rest of the season we will be given the opportunities to see Brian give us Jimmy as his best, not his worst.

FORNELL AS BOYFRIEND MATERIAL

Let's take a look at Tobias Fornell as possible boyfriend material.

Tobias has a steady job, being a Senior Special Agent with the FBI. He is trusted to run delicate operations such as investigating NCIS over the death of Rene Benoit.

He is honest, straight forward (some would say blunt) and loyal. Characteristics he shares with his closest friend Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Married once, (that we know of) to an ex-wife of Gibbs', and subsequently divorced. Is most likely now marriage-shy as the ex-wife, Diane, cleaned out his bank accounts when she left. This marriage collapse has not made Tobias bitter. He has been able to bury the past and come to at least speaking terms with Diane. Possibly because of their child, Emily, but it does look as though the have remained friends. In the season 6 episode "Nine Lives", when Fornell is in trouble with his director after the shooting of a Mafia crime boss by a supposed witness, it is Diane he turns to to talk out his troubles. We know this because he tells Gibbs that Diane told him that Gibbs would be there for him. Seems Diane knows both her men well.

So it appears that Tobias isn't carrying anywhere near the level of emotional baggage that his friend is.

Looked at objectively, Tobias Fornell is actually a better prospect than Gibbs. Emotionally steadier, financially more sound (he's only paying one lot of alimony, not three), and doesn't build boats in his basement.

In the Squadroom, Ziva and McGee were astonished. Tony had gone out without asking permission and Gibbs had run after him without saying anything.
It was just too weird! And worrying too!
"Did you understand anything just now, McGee?" asked Ziva.
"No," answered Tim, still looking at the elevator.

"Tony, call him," Gibbs said thoughtfully, sitting next to him.
"I can't ." sighed Tony.
"Why?"
"It's been a long time since I've talked to him."
"Why?" repeated Gibbs.
"It's complicated, Boss ." said Tony, sotto voce.
"Tony...how many years have passed since you talked to him?" asked Gibbs.
"About five and a half years ." sighed Tony.
"What happened the last time?"
"Well...I'd gone to Southampton for the funeral of the mother of an old friend and I'd decided to pretend that everything was good with my father. I behaved very politely to my father, even if I'd have liked to ignore him. So after the funeral party, I couldn't refuse to go home with him when he invited me."
"And?"
"And...after about half an hour of 'normal' conversation...he asked me when I'd find a real job."
"What?!" asked Gibbs, surprised and vexed.
"To him, only the jobs that let you make lots of money, are real jobs ." smiled Tony, sadly.
"What did you tell him?"
"Oh, I told him that our job helps people and the world to be better and safer...but he said that the only thing that can do that is money. He said I was a day-dreamer and..." Tony swallowed to push back tears. "He told me I've always been a day-dreamer since I was a child, when I thought that he'd married my mother for love. He said that he'd married her for money and to earn an important position in high society...he said, 'You've always thought you are the fruit of a love story', but that wasn't true...." sniffed Tony, "He then went on, 'You were an accident on my way to success and the certainty to be linked to your mother's very rich family for the rest of my life' ." he finished, with tears in his eyes.
Gibbs didn't say anything. How could it be possible? How could a man can consider his son an accident? He had lost his daughter Kelly and he still hurt from it years later. Giuseppe 'Joe' DiNozzo, was a cruel monster. He'd handle him and protect Tony.
Nobody can hurt one of my people and get off scot-free!
"If you'll order me to call him, I'll do it boss, but..." said Tony, looking up at Gibbs, who was already standing.
"No Tony, I'll do it ." said Gibbs. Tony nodded so the boss said, "Call your girlfriend."
"Oh yeah! And what am I gonna to tell her?!... 'Hi Sandy, I have really good news: my father is a suspect in a NCIS investigation'! It'd be a great start of a relationship, right?!" asked Tony, very nervous then becoming calm. "We just got together again a few hours ago, Boss...I can't call her now...maybe later, when I'll know something more about this mess...but not now ." sighed Tony.
"Maybe you're right ." Gibbs smiled gently then said "Go home, Tony."
"No Boss. I'm an agent so I'll come back to the office with you," said Tony, standing up as well, but he didn't move. He looked out at the water in front of them.
"Tony..." said Gibbs. Tony looked at him. "You're not alone. We're here with you...I'M here with you and...for you ." whispered Gibbs, reaching out and grasping Tony's shoulder.
"I know ." whispered Tony.
"Let's get back to work ." smiled Gibbs, then he stopped and said softly, "Dry your eyes."
Tony dried his eyes with his hands and followed his boss. Before going in the building he paused and said "Thank you ."
He felt sure and safe with his 'family' at his back, and Sandy in his heart. He could face his past and his father...now.

"McGee! Have you got something for me?!" said Gibbs, coming out the elevator, Tony following.
"Uh, Boss...I...I...no Boss, sorry," said Tim.
Ziva was looking at Tony looking for any explanation in his eyes, but he didn't deem her worthy of a look. He passed in front of her and stopped next to Gibbs, in front of the plasma. The boss looked at him and nodded.
"Listen, I've got to tell you...well........Gary Dalton...is my father," said Tony, very seriously.
"Your..." started McGee, but Gibbs reduced him to ashes with a glare.
"Gary Dalton is his pseudonym in private life and...in business too ." sighed Tony.
"Really?!" said Ziva, smiling, then she started teasing Tony. "So your father is one of our suspects? And...will you investigate him or will you cover him up?"
Gibbs looked at her astonished. He'd never heard such harsh words from her. Tony, in his worst moments, had never been so bad!
"I'm not you, Ziva! I've never covered up a suspect!" snapped Tony, very angry.
"What do you mean!?" she asked, going towards him threateningly. Gibbs grabbed her arm and hauled her to his 'conference room'. When the elevator's doors closed, he stopped the elevator.
"What the hell were you doing?!" shouted Gibbs in her face.
"Nothing," she said, defensively.
"Nothing?! NOTHING!! You have just insulted your partner!" Gibbs shouted, pointing at the door. "He's living in a personal hell right now and you tease him?!"
"He teases us every day!"
"No, he makes jokes, maybe he annoys you...but he's never hurt you on purpose!"
"Oh come on Gibbs! I was joking!" Ziva exclaimed, trying to defend herself.
"Ziva, you were not joking! You can't fool me! So, answer me! What were you doing?!"
"Nothing Gibbs," she said, ashamed of herself.
"What's going on Ziva? You've never behaved in this way before...especially with Tony. He's not just your partner on the job, he's your friend, one who risked his life and career TWICE to protect and save you."
"I know...it's...I've hoped that we...oh, I do not know!" she sighed.
"Are you in love with him, Ziva?" asked Gibbs, calming down from his tirade and peering into her face.
"I've never thought that it could happen to me, but...this morning, when Tony said that that doctor...Sandy, is important to him...I then understood that he loves her, I found that I was jealous...I do not know what to do."
"Ziva..."
"I know it's wrong, but...." She was very sad and confused.
"You need to talk to him."
"Never! I'll apologize to him and I'll fix things, but I'll never tell him...don't tell him anything, please," she said with a sad smile.

"Boss, we've got a problem ." said Tony, when Gibbs and Ziva went back in the squadroom.
"Another dead Marine from the same intoxication Boss ." said McGee, looking at him and Ziva.
"When?" asked Gibbs.
"Yesterday morning ." answered Tim.
"Why didn't they call us yesterday?" asked Gibbs, irked.
"Because the victim is a submariner of BESS of New London Naval Base, Groton, Connecticut ." answered Tony.
"What is this BSES?" asked Ziva from behind him.
Nobody answered, but Gibbs was staring at his senior field agent.
"It's BESS," he said grumpily. "And it stands for Basic Enlisted Sub School," explained Tony, without looking at her.
"And the Russel Transportation of Annapolis has an office in Groton too," said McGee, trying to ignore the tension in the air.
"Miles Young worked there for 2 years before moving to Annapolis, where he worked for three years, before being fired ." Tony added.
"DiNozzo, get us on the next flight to Groton and rent a car too ." ordered the boss, going to Director Vance's office.
"On it, Boss!" said Tony, sitting at his desk and picking up the phone.
"Tony, I have..." said Ziva, standing in front of him.
"I don't have time for you right now, Ziva ." he said.
"But I've got to talk to you. I want to..." she said, softly.
"Please...I've got to work," he replied. His look suffered no objections.

"Tony, the flight?!" asked Gibbs, coming downstairs.
"The next flight anywhere near to Groton is scheduled for 1945 today, Boss."
"And a Navy flight?" asked Gibbs, staring at him.
"I've tried, but there are no flights there until tomorrow night."
"Have you insisted?" grinned the boss.
"Heck, YES! But they said no!"
"I'll try," said Gibbs, going to his desk.
"You're not so powerful!" Tony exclaimed. Oops! Gibbs gave him a very icy stare...Tony "saw" a headslap coming from his stare! "No, Boss...I mean...you know...Ehem...okay, I'll do it by myself," and he headslapped the nape of his own neck.
"Better," smirked Gibbs, picking up his cell.
Unfortunately, Tony was right. Gibbs couldn't get a Navy flight!

"Hallo ." Sandy said on the phone.
"Hi, it's me ." said Tony.
"Ciao, honey...thanks for the white roses. They're beautiful ." she said softly.
"Have they already delivered them?"
"Yes, you didn't forget...they're my favourite flowers."
"Well...I remember many other things too..." he teased.
"Tony! Shame on you!" she laughed.
"Sandy, listen...."
"What's that noise? Where are you? I can't hear you!" she said, plugging one ear with a finger.
"I'm at Baltimore-Washington Int. Airport. I'm leaving town."
"Where are you going?"
"Groton."
"Oh. Where's that?"
"Connecticut ." answered Tony, not happy at all.
"It's not far from Southampton, is it?...Are you going to go home?" she asked, worried. Sandy was the one and only person to whom had Tony told everything about his past.
"Maybe ." he sighed.
"Be careful, okay? Don't let him put you down ." she said sweetly.
"I've gotta go now...I..love you, Sandy."
"I love you too Tony, and...call me if...."
"I'll call you. Ciao."

The Southwest Airlines flight was rolling on the taxiway with Gibbs sitting next to Ziva, while Tony and Tim were sitting five seats behind them.
"How are you, Timmy?" asked Tony, turning the pages of a car magazine.
"What?" asked McGee, very surprised.
"You seem worried ." answered Tony, looking at car photos.
"Oh...I was thinking...Tony, I think I've got to say to you...I'm sorry."
"For what?!" asked Tony, raising his eyebrows and looking at Tim.
"For this morning, when I teased you about Sandy."
"Oh, forget it. I knew you were joking. Don't worry, it was nothing, Probie..." then he looked at him and said "Sorry, I meant 'McGee'."
"No, it's okay," smiled Tim.
"You're not a probie, anymore...not after Somalia ." said Tony, very seriously.
"Thanks, but I'll always be 'Probie'...Gibbs is Franks' probie and I'm your probie...but don't take undue advantage, okay?" grinned Tim.
"Deal," smiled Tony. Their relationship had grown a lot in the last months, especially after Gibbs' decision to leave Ziva behind in Israel.
"Why don't you get some sleep? I think you didn't sleep a lot last night ." winked Tim.
"I was working ." said Tony, but McGee was grinning. "And...I did other things, too ." a smile growing on Tony's face, as well.

While Tony was sleeping Ziva exchanged her seat with Tim's.
"Hi ." she said, when Tony opened his eyes.
"Hi ." he answered, not in a friendly way. "Are we landing?"
"Ten minutes ." she said looking at him. After few seconds of uncomfortable silence, Ziva said, "About this morning..."
"Ziva, I'm not in the mood."
"I want to say I'm sorry. I made a mistake."
"Oh, yeah...what made you do that?"
"It doesn't matter ." she said, turning her gaze from him.
"It matters for me...I think I didn't deserve it ."
"No, you didn't...it's just me ."
"Ziva, look at me...what's going on?" he softly asked her. Tony looked at Ziva's eyes and he saw tears. "You can tell me everything ."
"After you'd saved me...when you said you couldn't live without me, I'd hoped you felt..."
"Wait!...You've thought I love you. Right?" asked Tony and she nodded. "Oh..." he whispered.
"I know that it's wrong, but..."
"No, it's not wrong...we've always had a special relationship and I don't deny that I've felt attraction for you, but..."
"But you don't love me ." sighed Ziva.
"Maybe a little in the past , but now I love you just as friends and partners...if you'd told me these things a few years ago, I'd have seized the opportunity because I didn't know you so well then....Some years ago Kate asked me why I'd never tried hooking up her, and I told her because I knew her and this's the same situation, Ziva ... I know and respect you too much to play with your feelings. I'm not the 'bad boy' that you knew when you arrived at NCIS anymore," he smiled. "I'm changing and you helped me do that. You made me grow up and...I want something more than a simple affair now ." whispered Tony.
"What do you want?"
"I want passion and excitement, but I want serenity, companionship and warmth too...I want the lifelong love, I suppose ." Tony smiled sweetly, thinking about Sandy. It still seemed impossible to him that they'd gotten together again. Now he could have the life that he'd always dreamed of.
"We are on final approach to Providence Airport. Fasten your seat belts and return your seat backs to the fully upright position." announced the loud-speaker.
"I'll go back to my seat ." said Ziva, rising.
"Ziva...I'm sorry if I've made you suffer....Uh sit down, they just said to fasten our seatbelts ."
"Don't worry, I will get through it, but...I don't want to lose your friendship and support."
"Never, trust me ." smiled Tony, sweetly.
Finally they landed . There was an US Navy helo waiting for them and flowing them to New London Military Base , where they met Lt. Charlie Night .
"I've talked to your director . He told me everything and I've assured him all our collaboration , agent Gibbs ." he said .
"We need to see the corpse and talk to your ME , Leutenant ."
"That's could be a problem ."
"Why ?" asked Gibbs , really nervous . Tony , Ziva and McGee grinned .
"Well , the morgue is closed and will open at 0700 tomorrow morning , and our ME Lt. Wendell is not here . He's in Los Angeles for a Forensic Meeting . He's left yesterday evening ." said the man and Gibbs rolled his eyes "But we've prepared a comfortable accomodation for you and your team ." Night tried apologizing .

"They called it a 'comfortable accomodation' ?!" exclaimed Tony , going into the Base Housing .
"They are soldiers , Tony . They're used to not expensive and comfotable houses ." pointed Ziva .
"You've been in the Army , Ziva , how would you define this place ?" asked Tony .
Ziva looked around and said "Okay , I agree ... It's horrible !" smiled . She seemed a little more relieved than on the plane .
"Thanks ." said Tony .
"It looks almost like your place , Tim ." said Ziva .
"Hey ! Have you taken 'humor lessons' from DiNozzo ?!" protested him .
"Funny ! No , his place is an 'villa' in front of this ... !" grinned Tony .
"Have you finished ?!" asked McGee .
"Right ! Have you finished ?!" asked Gibbs coming from his 'room' "Settle in your rooms ! I'll call Abby and Ducky ."
"I'm hungry , Gibbs ." complained Ziva .
"Me too ." said Tim .
Tony saw Gibbs' look and said "I'll call for pizza ."
Then 'the battle for the room' broke out ! Strangely Tony didn't take part in it . He felt a little guilty to Ziva so , as the senior field agent , he gave her the largest and comfortable room ... he would have slept with Tim ... in a double bad ! It would have been a very interesting night !

In the meanwhile at Gergetown Uni Hospital , lots of things were happening . Miles Young was slowly recovering and he wanted to talk to NCIS offering his collaboration . But someone else was interested in him .
"Are you dott. Della Torre ?" asked a man .
"Sorry , who are you ?"
"Special agent Fornell , FBI ." answered the man , showing his badge .
"Yes I'm . What can I do for you , agent ?" she smiled .
"I've got to talk to Miles Young ."
"Well , I suppose you'll have got to wait ." she said , kindly .
"Listen , dott ..."
"You have to conduct your investigation ." she finished then she said "But Mr Young is not ready to talk with you . When he will be , I'll call you ."
"When ?"
"I don't know . Maybe tomorrow ."
"Deal ." said Fornell , not happy and went away .
"Who's that man ?" Rose asked Sandy .
She turned around and said "I've just lied to FBI ." smiled surprised by herself .

After about half an hour , Sandy was drinking a tea when a man arrived . He weared a design suit , he was very good looking and he looked familiar .
"Good evening , I'm Jeff Paddington ." he introduced himself "You're dott. Della Torre , right ?" he was very polite .
"Yes , I'm , Mr Paddington . Can I help you ?"
"I'm a lawyer ."
"Oh ." she whispered . Often 'lawyer' means 'trouble' .
He saw her look and said "No , no , don't worry . I'm not here for a bad thing ." smiled . Sandy started again breathing "Can we talk private ?"
"Sure . We can go in my office . Follow me , please ."
When they were in the office and sitting down , he said "I'm looking for Tony ."
"And why are you looking for him , here ?" she surprised .
"I've called his cell , but he didn't answered me ."
"He's changed his number ."
"Good ... then I've called NCIS , they said me he was out of DC . When I've said that this is an emergency , they've given me your number . You're on his 'emergency numbers list' ."
"Really ? I've thought he removed it . You said NCIS that this's an emergency , is it true ?"
"It could be . I've got to talk to Tony about his mother's inheritance ."
"Tony was cut off his family's inheritance ." said Sandy , a little vexed .
"This's not completely true ... Well , I'm Tony's cousin from his mother side ..."
"And you look a little like him ." smiled Sandy .
"They always said it ... I ... Sandy , my family thinks that Joe had made something irregular with my aunt's patrimony ."
"Wow ... okay , I'll give you his cell number ."
"Tonight I'll be at a Senator party and tomorrow I'll have meetings all day long . You could tell Tony to call me when he'll have a moment ." he said .
"All right , Jeff ."

"DiNozzo ." Tony said on the phone .
"Hi tesoro ..."
"Sandy ? What ... "
"Wait ! I'm in a hurry , so do not talk but listen ! First of all , I've lied to FBI ..."
"What ?!"
"Shut up ! They wanted to interrogate Young , but I told them that he's still sick ... oh , by the way , he's recovering and he wants to talk to NCIS ... Then ... " she took a breath and said "I've met your cousin Jeff ... "
"Je... "
"He's got to talk to you as soon as possible about your mother inheritance . Did you understand everything ?"
"Yes , but ..."
"I know it's completely weird , but it's true . Now I've gotta go . I love you ."
"I love you too ." said Tony . He closed his cell , he was completely astonished .

Is there an episode where Gibbs signs to be Tony's next of kin?
In what episode does Gibbs say "It's no fun if you know it's coming" (about the headslap) ?	In 'The Bone Yard' season 2 episode 5 after DiNozzo got his butt whipped by Gibbs in boxing he was saying to Kate McGee and Abby, in Abby's lab how he only lost on purpose so Gibbs wasn't angry the rest of the day and Gibbs heard him, then Tony expected to get headslapped and Gibbs said he can take a joke, then when Gibbs was walking out of Abby's lab he headslapped him and said the line. I think it's about 20 minutes into the episode give or take a bit
