Air Force One landed in Wichita, and the local ME referred to the plane being under the jurisdiction of "Wichita County." Either he is an imposter, or the writers didn't do their research. Wichita is located in southern Kansas in Sedgwick County. Wichita County, Kansas is in western Kansas, 250 miles from the city of Wichita. The closest strip of pavement to Wichita County capable of landing Air Force One would be Interstate 70!! 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

That's the least of the problems! If Air Force One landed in Wichita, as it has done hundreds of times, it would NOT land at Midcontinent Airport. It would land at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. The air base is right next to Boeing Military Aircraft Company which outfits much of the various Air Force Ones and has also handled many of the renovations over the years. Oh, and a market of 500,000 people doesn't really have that many people anymore with deep western twangs. In eight years of living there, I ran into maybe 6, and four of them were millionaire oilmen. Wichita isn't a hick town, and hasn't been for many years. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
