First, I am a great fan of NCIS, but.....I am starting to think that the character of Tony actually belongs in the movie.."Big" with Tom Hanks...Tony is a great looking guy, could probably be quite funny and believable if the writers actually wrote the script for a grown up Tony, not a 14 year old in an adult body. I actually think that maybe the writers are only 14 years old and have no concept of what a young adult should be portrayed as. I think Gibbs should give Tony the grand daddy of headslaps that would render him unconcious, into a comma for a few episodes, and then when he recovers, he is actually a grown up man, ready to take on the world, instead of acting like a silly little boy. Do you find this valuable?

I do agree that the writers this season have dropped the ball where Tony is concerned, making him digress into little more than comic relief or the butt of the joke. Which is sad, because DiNozzo is really the most interesting, complex character on the show(in the hands of COMPETENT writers, that is). He CAN be the go-to guy to save the day(Requiem), or the guy who is capable of running the team(post Hiatus), or the serious guy dying inside and taking responsibility for ops gone bad(Bury Your Dear, Judgement Day, Internal Affairs). This is the Tony I long to see again, and hope he can be developed in future episodes. Time to let DiNozzo grow up, NCIS writers. Do you find this valuable?

Tony was well on his way toward growing up at the end of last season and the beginning of this one, and we saw hints of the kind of character he could have been in "Agent Afloat," where he was both competent AND funny. Unfortunately, once he got back to D.C., the writers took a major step backwards with him, turning him into a caricature of himself. Its as if they thought "oh, crap. We matured him too much! Time to undo it!" and promptly had him begin acting like an immature punk who needed to be fired.

So yeah, I've been REALLY disappointed with what they've done with Tony this year. At this point, I'm halfway wishing he WOULD get his own team or something if it would bring back competent!Tony. I'm sick to death of him as comedy relief or butt monkey.
